The South Korean military has postponed the Hoguk exercise, its large-scale annual military exercise originally scheduled for late October, to next month.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff(JCS) announced on Thursday that the Hoguk exercise, initially planned for October 20 to 24, will now take place from November 17 to 21.

The JCS explained that the exercise was rescheduled to maintain thorough military readiness and ensure favorable conditions for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit beginning on October 31 in Gyeongju.

Other factors considered include the upcoming parliamentary audit of the armed forces running from October 13 to 30 and the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition 2025 scheduled to be held from October 17 to 24.

The JCS emphasized that postponing the exercise will secure better preparation conditions and allow for more effective training.
