The LG Twins secured the KBO regular season championship for the first time in two years.

The Twins clinched the pennant on Wednesday, despite a 7-3 loss to the NC Dinos in their final game, after the second-place Hanwha Eagles fell to the SSG Landers.

LG finished with a .603 winning percentage, edging out Hanwha’s .593.

The accolade marks LG’s fourth regular season crown, and the team will advance directly to the Korean Series, which begins October 21, in pursuit of a fourth combined title.

Meanwhile, Hanwha starter Ricardo Sanchez led the league in strikeouts, ERA, wins and winning percentage, becoming the first foreign pitcher to achieve a “quadruple crown.”

The battle for fifth place between NC and the KT Wiz will be decided on Friday, with the winner set to face the fourth-place Samsung Lions in the wild-card game.
