President Lee Jae Myung has begun the Chuseok holiday by meeting displaced North Koreans and their families at the Ganghwa Peace Observatory in Incheon.

At the event on Friday, he expressed empathy for their longing to return to their hometowns and wished them a warm holiday with their loved ones.

Lee joined the group in gazing toward the North and posed for commemorative photos.

The event was part of efforts to highlight reconciliation and support for separated families.

During the holiday break, Lee plans to rest while also focusing on political strategy, including preparations for the APEC summit in Gyeongju later this month.
