Former Korea Communications Commission Chair Lee Jin-sook, arrested Thursday on allegations of violating the election law and the civil service law, has filed a habeas corpus petition with the Seoul Southern District Court.

Disputing the allegations, her attorney Lim Moo-young said the arrest warrant lacked sufficient grounds.

Lee was apprehended at her Seoul residence after repeatedly ignoring police summonses, then transported in handcuffs to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station.

She is accused of making partisan remarks online that prosecutors say amounted to illegal electioneering against President Lee Jae Myung.

A habeas corpus hearing to review the legality of her arrest is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at the Seoul Southern District Court.
