Security screeners at Incheon International Airport have withdrawn their plans to refuse extra shifts during the Chuseok holiday.

The reversal eases concerns over heavy congestion as passenger traffic surges during the ten-day break.

Two unions representing screeners said Friday that they will work as scheduled.

The workers, employed by a subsidiary of the airport authority, had previously refused to take on additional duties to protest alleged union busting and staffing shortages.

Union officials said outstanding issues will be addressed later through labor-management talks.

A separate strike by subcontracted workers in cleaning, transport and maintenance continues across 15 airports nationwide.
