Workers at 14 airports throughout the country, excluding only Incheon International Airport, will suspend the strike they began Wednesday and return to work.

In a statement issued Saturday, a group representing the workers said they have decided to return until October 14, when the presidential office and the Korea Airports Corporation are expected to hold talks.

But the group said the workers will walk out again the next day if the talks do not result in responsible action from the government and relevant agencies.

Workers affiliated with the Incheon International Airport chapter of the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers’ Union plan to continue their walkout during the Chuseok thanksgiving holiday.

On Wednesday, workers at the nation’s 15 airports launched an indefinite strike, calling for additional hiring and changes to shift schedules.
