Outbound Traffic from Seoul Expected to Peak Sunday Ahead of Chuseok

Outbound traffic from Seoul is expected to reach its peak on Sunday, as travelers head to their hometowns ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

According to the Korea Expressway Corporation, congestion is forecast to be heavier than the previous two days, with an estimated five-point-75 million vehicles expected to be on the roads nationwide.

As of noon Sunday, travel times from Seoul were estimated at six hours and 50 minutes to Busan, six hours to Gwangju, four hours to Gangneung, and three hours and 40 minutes to Daejeon.

Inbound traffic to Seoul was projected to take seven hours from Busan, four hours and 50 minutes from Gwangju, three hours and 40 minutes from Gangneung, and two hours and 20 minutes from Daejeon.

Traffic is expected to peak around midday and gradually ease after 9 p.m.
