Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol will depart for the United States on Wednesday to attend the Group of 20(G20) Finance and Central Bank Ministerial Meeting as well as the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund(IMF).

Koo is scheduled to attend the G20 ministerial meeting in Washington on Wednesday and Thursday.

The minister will also participate in high-level talks among the Group of Seven on artificial intelligence(AI), financial crime and fraud at the invitation of this year's chair, Canada.

He is also set to attend a meeting of the International Monetary and Finance Committee as a representative of one of the IMF's 25 executive director states.

A finance ministry spokesperson said South Korea is in talks to arrange a separate meeting between Koo and U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, which, if held, would focus on the details of the two sides' ongoing tariff negotiation.
