The families of some victims of the Jeju Air crash at Muan International Airport last December have filed an international lawsuit against U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing.

The plaintiffs announced Wednesday that two of the three law firms that received their requests have submitted a complaint against Boeing to the King County District Court in the U.S. city of Seattle.

A third firm is also in the process of filing.

The ill-fated Jeju Air plane, which took off from Bangkok with 181 people onboard on December 29, 2024, crashed and collided with the localizer atop a concrete mound at the end of the Muan Airport's runway later the same day. The disaster left 179 dead and two injured.

The families hope to hold Boeing accountable for manufacturing defects, claiming that the aircraft's landing gear had complex flaws.
