The Supreme Court remanded a lower court's ruling on the high-profile divorce of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Roh Soh-yeong, director of Art Center Nabi.

The top judicial authority sent the case back to the Seoul High Court for review at 10 a.m. on Thursday after deliberating the case for more than a year.

Chey announced his intention to divorce Roh in 2015, acknowledging the existence of a child born out of wedlock.

The SK chief sought a settlement two years later, but negotiations with Roh's side eventually broke down, and she filed a suit in 2019.

In December 2022, the Seoul Family Court ordered Chey to pay 100 million won, or approximately 70-thousand-500 U.S. dollars, in alimony and 66-point-five billion won in cash as part of the property division.

In May of last year, the appeals court ordered Chey to pay Roh a record one-point-38 trillion won in property division and two billion won in alimony.
