The rate of increase in Seoul's housing prices has more than doubled since before the Chuseok holiday two weeks earlier.

According to the Korea Real Estate Board on Thursday, Seoul's apartment prices posted a cumulative gain of zero-point-54 percent during the first and second week of October, more than double the zero-point-27 percent recorded in the fifth week of September.

By district, Seongdong posted an increase rate of one-point-63 percent, followed by Gwangjin at one-point-49 percent and Mapo at one-point-29 percent, with all of the city's 25 districts reporting accelerated growth.

The real estate agency said the price increase was concentrated in areas pursuing reconstruction projects, with the market anticipating price increases before and after the holiday period.

A similar trend was evident in the surrounding capital region, with the increase rate more than doubling from zero-point-12 to zero-point-25 percent.
