The remains of a late South Korean university student, who was allegedly tortured to death in Cambodia, were returned on Tuesday, 74 days after his body was discovered.

A Korean Air flight carrying the cremated remains of the student, identified by the surname Park, landed at Incheon International Airport at around 8 a.m.

The remains will be delivered to the bereaved family.

This repatriation follows a joint autopsy conducted on Monday by South Korean and Cambodian investigators at a temple in Phnom Penh, where the body had been stored in a morgue for more than two months.

Park was found near Bokor Mountain in Kampot Province with signs of severe torture, less than a month after he informed his family on July 17 that he was traveling to Cambodia to attend an exhibition.
