South Korea's intelligence agency estimates that up to two-thousand South Koreans are involved in criminal activities inside complexes in Cambodia that are occupied by criminal rings.

The National Intelligence Service(NIS) made the report on Wednesday during a closed-door session of the National Assembly's Intelligence Committee, according to Rep. Park Sun-won, the ruling Democratic Party's(DP) senior member.

Park said the NIS made the estimate based on the number of Korean restaurants accessed near the complexes.

The spy agency said there are 50 such complexes throughout Cambodia, with around 200-thousand workers inside.

Cambodian law enforcement said earlier that 57 of the three-thousand-75 online scam suspects apprehended between June and July of this year were South Korean nationals.
