The government plans to create an integrated computer network system by 2007.

The Ministry of Administration and Home Affairs says the new computer network aims to promote the efficiency of investments in information and further protect important state information in case of emergency.

The plan calls for integrating the computer systems of individual ministries and agencies into a single computer network center.

The government is hoping to save up to two and a half trillion won in direct and indirect expenditures once the computer network center has been completed.
