South Korea and the United States on Wednesday adopted a memorandum of understanding(MOU) on cooperation in artificial intelligence, 6G and space exploration.

The science ministry announced that the MOU had been inked during the South Korea-U.S. summit held ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) summit.

The ministry said the accord centers on accelerating AI adoption and innovation, as well as on trusted technology leadership.

To this end, the two countries will work closely to develop pro-innovation AI policy frameworks, promote the export of all AI-related technology and collaborate on AI-related export deals across Asia and other continents to create a common AI ecosystem in the region.

With the MOU in place, Seoul and Washington will also cooperate on 6G-relevant technology, pharmaceutical and biotechnology supply chain security, space exploration and quantum innovation.
