Top Diplomats of S. Korea, US, Japan Reaffirm Close Cooperation on N. Korea

The top diplomats of South Korea, the United States and Japan agreed Wednesday to maintain close coordination on North Korea and uphold their shared goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi met ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Gyeongju.

They discussed issues related to the Korean Peninsula, regional affairs and ways to strengthen trilateral economic cooperation.

Cho proposed closer collaboration on supply chain resilience in the region and on solutions to transnational challenges across the Indo-Pacific region.

Rubio and Motegi reaffirmed their commitment to working together towards peace, stability and prosperity in the region.

Reaffirming their goal of denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, the top diplomats also agreed to continue promoting peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
