Samsung Electronics posted a strong operating profit in the third quarter, driven by robust performance in its chip business.

The tech giant announced on Thursday that its operating profit in the July-September period rose 32-point-five percent from the previous year to 12-point-16 trillion won, or approximately eight-point-six billion U.S. dollars, beating expectations.

The chip business accounted for 57-point-three percent of total operating profit.

Samsung’s quarterly revenue increased eight-point-eight percent from 2024 to a record 86 trillion won.

Net profit also jumped 21 percent from a year ago to 12-point-25 trillion won in the third quarter.
