President Lee Jae Myung will deliver a speech at the National Assembly on Tuesday regarding the government-proposed 728 trillion won budget for next year. 

The presidential office announced the plan on Monday in a press briefing.

Lee is expected to outline the direction of the proposed budget and call on the ruling and opposition parties to enable its passage.

The 2026 budget bill, the first major budget proposal of the Lee administration, focuses on artificial intelligence, research and development and other sectors aimed at driving economic growth.

This will be Lee’s second budget speech since taking office in June, following his first on June 26, when his government proposed a supplementary budget.
