U.S. President Donald Trump intends to restrict exports of Nvidia’s advanced Blackwell chips for artificial intelligence(AI).

Trump made statement in a CBS interview recorded Friday and aired Sunday, as well as during an in-flight press briefing en route from Florida to Washington.

Asked in the CBS interview whether he would allow Nvidia to sell its advanced chips to China, Trump said he would not.

He added that China can handle that issue with Nvidia, but emphasized that the most advanced chips will remain exclusively in the United States.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said the new Blackwell chip is ten years ahead of any other chip and that the U.S. does not provide it to other countries.

Last Friday, Nvidia announced it would supply more than 260-thousand Blackwell chips to South Korea, including to major companies such as Samsung Electronics.
