KT will offer free SIM card replacement service to all its customers following a series of security breaches.

The nation’s No. 2 mobile carrier said it had decided to offer the service at a board of directors meeting on Tuesday.

The move follows a data breach that exposed the subscriber identification data of 22-thousand-227 users, after which an estimated 362 customers faced fraudulent carrier charges.

The telecom giant has moved to implement additional protective measures amid suspicions that the hack originated in KT's key server network.

The latest move comes less than a week after KT announced that it will provide 100GB of free data for five months, as well as 150-thousand won, or roughly 104 U.S. dollars, in billing credits or device discounts, to customers affected by recent fraudulent charges and data leaks.
