Senior North Korean and Russian military officials discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation between their military-political agencies, amid signs that Pyongyang is preparing to send additional troops to Russia.
The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported Friday that representatives of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People’s Army met with a Russian delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Goremykin on Wednesday in Pyongyang.
The two sides reportedly discussed ways to strengthen collaboration and exchange between their military-political organizations in line with their deepening bilateral ties.
The KCNA said North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang-chol also met Goremykin’s delegation in a “friendly atmosphere" on Wednesday.
No visited Moscow on October 1, where he met Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov and reaffirmed Pyongyang’s full support for Russia.
Amid its prolonged war against Ukraine, Moscow appears to have dispatched the deputy minister-level delegation as a reciprocal visit to reinforce ties with North Korea.
