South Korean actor Oh Young-soo has been acquitted of sexual misconduct charges on appeal.

The Suwon District Court handed down the verdict to the 81-year-old Oh on Tuesday.

Oh was charged with forcibly hugging a woman on a walkway and later kissing her in front of her house while staying in a rural area for a theater performance in 2017. A lower court handed him an eight-month prison sentence suspended for two years last March.

In its ruling, the court said it harbored suspicion about the sexual assault charges, given that the actor had apologized to his accuser and acknowledged that her memory could've become distorted over time.

Oh was charged with sexual misconduct in November 2022.

He won Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series at the Golden Globes in January 2022 for his performance in Netflix's “Squid Game.”
