Top officials of South Korea and Qatar met on Wednesday to discuss cooperation in energy supply chains and shipbuilding.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources announced Wednesday that Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan met with Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar's minister of state for energy affairs, in Seoul.

The two sides highlighted the long-standing partnership in the liquefied natural gas(LNG) sector and discussed industrial and resource cooperation.

Qatar is South Korea’s second-largest LNG supplier, having delivered four-point-87 million tons of LNG from January to August of this year.

The top officials also exchanged information on Qatar’s plans to increase LNG production and agreed to maintain stable supply chain cooperation.

Both sides emphasized the importance of collaboration in fields including plant construction and shipbuilding, given their ties to LNG trade.
