The chairman of the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT), known in Korean as the Suneung, said this year’s exam was designed with questions of “appropriate difficulty” to align with high school curricula.
Kim Chang-won, chairman of the CSAT committee, made the remarks at a press briefing, emphasizing that the questions were created to match both the content and difficulty of high school education.
Kim said the committee aimed to help balance high school education by focusing on core curricular content.
He added that the panel excluded questions that could advantage students who had learned problem-solving techniques through private tutoring.
The chairman said the committee ensured a balanced distribution of questions, with appropriate difficulty, to accurately assess students’ knowledge in line with the public education curriculum.
Kim also said the committee worked to balance difficulty across electives to minimize potential advantage or disadvantage that could arise from students’ subject choices.
