A state-sponsored festival promoting South Korean alcohol will open in Seoul on Friday. 

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced Thursday that it will kick off the 15th Korean Sool Grand Festival 2025, showcasing South Korean alcohol, or sool, at Seoul's aT Center.

A record 122 domestic companies will participate in this year's iteration of the three-day event, which attracts around 20-thousand people each year.

Visitors will be invited to a blind tasting event on Friday and an auction over the weekend, during which they can bid on limited-edition South Korean alcohol.

Through the festival, the government plans to find competitive products with export potential and help to raise their profile in cooperation with overseas diplomatic missions.
