The Central Disaster Management Headquarters has wrapped up its search and rescue operation at the site of a tower collapse at a decommissioned thermal power plant in Ulsan, now that the bodies of all seven workers trapped underneath the debris have been found.

Labor Minister Kim Young-hoon, co-head of the headquarters, said a prayer for the victims on Saturday and expressed his condolences to their families.

He also promised to work with the city government to provide active support to the bereaved families for the funeral proceedings and whatever else may be necessary as they return to their daily lives.

Kim thanked the emergency authorities for their search and rescue efforts.

The minister also pledged to prepare a set of comprehensive measures to address dangers in the decommissioning process.

On November 6, a 63-meter-tall boiler tower collapsed during demolition operations, trapping seven subcontracted workers underneath the rubble.
