Government data shows that people who owned their own homes accounted for more than 60 percent of the country’s households at the end of last year.

According to the 2024 housing survey released Sunday by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, homeowners led 61-point-four percent of all households last year, up zero-point-seven percentage point from a year earlier.

People living in their own homes accounted for 58-point-four percent of the total, marking a one percentage point increase.

The average price of a home was six-point-three times the homeowner’s annual income, with the ratio unchanged from the previous year.

It took an average of seven-point-nine years for the homeowners in last year’s survey to purchase their first homes, as compared with seven-point-seven years in the previous survey.
