Temperatures fell sharply Monday morning, bringing an early chill.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, morning temperatures in Seoul dropped to three degrees Celsius, with strong winds pushing the wind chill down to around zero.

The mercury in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, and Paju, Gyeonggi Province, also dipped to around one degree.

The cold will persist throughout the day, with daytime highs in central regions hovering around five degrees.

Even colder air will move in on Tuesday, with Seoul’s morning low forecast to fall below freezing for the first time this fall.

Subzero temperatures are expected across many areas, increasing the risk of icy roads and thin surface frost.
