Temperatures will plunge overnight, with many regions expected to fall below freezing by early Tuesday.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, morning lows will range from minus eight to five degrees Celsius, including minus three in Seoul, marking a drop of six to nine degrees from Monday.

Cold wave alerts are likely for mountainous areas in Gangwon Province and North Gyeongsang Province, with daytime highs nationwide reaching only 4 to 12 degrees.

Some coastal areas along the West Sea and in Jeju may see brief rain or snow during the day.

The cold spell will last through Wednesday before easing later in the week as high pressure settles in.

Sea conditions will be rough across most waters, and strong winds will hit the west coast.
