North Korea has condemned the recent joint fact sheet and statement from the South Korea-U.S. summits and annual defense talks, calling them renewed evidence of hostile policy.
In a statement published Tuesday by the state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA), Pyongyang accused Seoul and Washington of ignoring legitimate security concerns and escalating regional tensions.
The comment comes four days after the release of a joint fact sheet summarizing the results of two summits between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and U.S. President Donald Trump, along with a communique from the annual Security Consultative Meeting in early November.
KCNA claimed the allies’ reaffirmation of the goal of “complete denuclearization of North Korea” signaled an intent to deny the North’s constitutional status.
The lengthy text also criticized the U.S. for formally approving South Korea’s pursuit of nuclear-powered submarines.
North Korea vowed to take justified and realistic countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and security as well as regional peace, reiterating that the allies had reaffirmed their hostile stance toward the regime.
