Affiliates of the LG Group are setting up research centers at renowned universities in Russia to bolster their capacity in developing the latest technology.

LG Electronics says it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with St. Petersburg University to launch a mobile phone research center in November.

Sister company LG Chemical, meanwhile, says it will be setting up a research facility in Moscow University for developing advanced materials.

LG says the new research centers in Russia would benefit its cause to attract superior technology and quality researchers.
