In response to Pyongyang's criticism of a joint trade and security fact sheet issued last week by Seoul and Washington, the presidential office said it would work to ease tensions and restore mutual trust between the two Koreas.

Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a press notice on Tuesday that the administration has no hostility toward or resolve to fight against Pyongyang, contrary to comments carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency(KCNA).

Kang said Seoul's security cooperation with Washington aims to strengthen national security, defend South Korean interests and maintain regional peace and stability.

Earlier, KCNA said the allies' joint fact sheet lays bare their resolve to confront the regime with hostility and indicates that the Seoul-Washington alliance is set to evolve into a more dangerous relationship.
