South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) seek to establish a “K-City” in the Middle Eastern country that encompasses K-culture and advanced industries.
Presidential chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik revealed the plan on Tuesday in a briefing in Abu Dhabi covering the summit between President Lee Jae Myung and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE.
Kang said that the UAE had expressed interest in a “UAE K-City,” which would integrate K-culture with advanced industries, artificial intelligence, technology, health care, aerospace and defense.
Kang added that the two nations have agreed to develop detailed plans through discussions.
The chief of staff explained that K-City would go beyond a simple industrial or cultural zone, serving as a full-cycle platform ecosystem combining K-culture-related future industries, technology, culture and talent investment.
Kang stressed that, through this project, the UAE will become a knowledge- and technology-based hub, and South Korea will secure a strategic foothold to expand into emerging markets and reshape global supply chains.
