Former first lady Kim Keon-hee's corruption trial was briefly broadcast on Wednesday.

The former first lady was briefly shown in the courtroom wearing a mask and a gray coat.

Although the prosecution had requested permission to broadcast the examination of documentary evidence, the Seoul Central District Court opted to publicize only the period from the start of the trial to the beginning of the evidentiary proceedings.

Kim stands accused of engaging in stock manipulation at Deutsch Motors between October 2010 and December 2012 and acquiring unfair profits of approximately 800 million won, or around 546-thousand U.S. dollars.

Prosecutors say she conspired to receive favorable polling from power broker Myung Tae-kyun before the 2022 presidential race and accepted bribes from the Unification Church in return for administrative favors.
