The Transport Ministry’s Aviation and Railway Accident Investigation Board will present its interim findings about last December’s Jeju Air crash at Muan International Airport during a public hearing next month.

The public hearing, the first of its kind on the incident, will run for two days, December 4-5, at the Seoul Global Center.

Investigators will confirm facts and present new findings as part of their ongoing probe into the causes and circumstances of the tragedy, in which a Jeju Air plane skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall at the Muan Airport on December 29, 2024, killing all but two of the 181 people on board.

Investigators, experts and other officials will explain the inquiry process and share data from the plane's flight and cockpit voice recorders.

The board said the entire hearing will be broadcast live on YouTube to ensure the public remains informed.

An association of bereaved families opposed the public hearing in a statement, saying it had not been consulted on the matter, had not been provided the investigation's findings in advance and would not be allowed to speak during the event.
