President Lee Jae Myung began summit talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Thursday in Cairo, the second stop of his four-nation Middle East and Africa tour.

Egypt hosted a full welcoming ceremony at the presidential palace before the two leaders began a one-on-one meeting at 11:11 a.m. local time.

They later moved into an expanded session with senior officials, where they were expected to discuss ways to strengthen economic and cultural ties with Egypt, a leading power in the Arab world.

Following the summit, Lee will attend an official luncheon and deliver a speech at Cairo University.

He is set to outline his government’s “Middle East Initiative” during the address.
