Producer prices increased for the second consecutive month in October, driven by strong demand for semiconductors.

The Bank of Korea said Friday that the producer price index, a key indicator of future inflation, for all commodities and services rose zero-point-two percent to 120-point-82 from September to October.

The figure marks the second straight month of growth, after the index gained zero-point-four percent in September.

The prices of agricultural, forestry and fishery products fell four-point-two percent in October from a month earlier, and gas, water and electricity prices also dropped zero-point-six percent.

The prices of manufactured goods, however, climbed zero-point-five percent, led by a three-point-nine percent surge in computers and electronic and optical devices.
