Seoul shares tumbled more than three percent Friday morning, dropping below the three-thousand-900 mark following an overnight slump in U.S. tech stocks.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) opened at three-thousand-908, down 96 points from the previous day, and quickly fell further below three-thousand-900.

By 9:46 a.m., the KOSPI was trading at three-thousand-856-point-29, down nearly 150 points, or three-point-71 percent, from the previous close.

The tech-laden KOSDAQ also gave up Thursday’s gains at the open, trading around the 860 level.

The fall tracked an overnight slump on Wall Street, where renewed concerns about an “AI bubble” triggered a tech sell-off and drove all three major U.S. indexes lower.
