The tech-heavy KOSDAQ fell 27-point-99 points, or three-point-14 percent, to close at 863-point-95.
 
The South Korean won weakened against the U.S. dollar, falling seven-point-seven won to trade at one-thousand-475-point-six won as of 3:30 p.m.
