A South Korean man was found dead inside a large bag near a residential building in Ho Chi Minh City.

The South Korean consulate general said Monday that the body had been found inside a large blue bag on Sunday afternoon, local time, after a security guard and pedestrians reported a suspicious odor to authorities.

Two men who were standing near the bag reportedly fled in a taxi after passersby gathered around it.

Police, who have since identified the body, have arrested two South Koreans in connection with the case.

The police are in the process of verifying the time and cause of the death.

The South Korean consulate general in Ho Chi Minh City said it plans to contact the deceased's family and provide necessary support.
