Consumer sentiment climbed to an eight‑year high in November, boosted by strong exports and the conclusion of tariff negotiations with the United States.

The Bank of Korea said in its Consumer Tendency Survey, released Tuesday, that the composite consumer sentiment index stood at 112-point-four for November, up two-point-six points from the previous month.

A reading above 100 indicates that optimists outnumber pessimists.

The November figure was the highest in eight years since November 2017, when it reached 113-point-nine.

The index measuring consumers’ economic outlook for the next six months jumped eight points to 102, while the index assessing current economic conditions rose five points from the previous month to 96.
