Starting from Tuesday, taxis at Incheon International Airport will receive passengers in order of their arrival regardless of the passenger's destination.
The Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it will operate on a trial basis, the so-called "unified dispatch system" at the airport's Terminal 1 through May 25 of next year.
With the system, passengers will be able to board taxis in line with their arrival time instead of having to wait at current taxi stands which are distinguished by six regions, including Seoul and Incheon as well as four cities in Gyeonggi Province, including Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, Goyang and Gimpo.
The move comes amid complaints among passengers on finding their corresponding taxi stands and among taxi drivers having to face sanctions in cases passengers boarded in different stands.
The airport is hoping that the new system will ease congestion in taxi stands.
