Interpol has endorsed South Korea's plan to target online scam rings through stronger transnational policing.

The Korean National Police Agency(KNPA) said a joint response resolution had passed the 93rd Interpol General Assembly in Marrakesh, with support from 125 of the 126 countries in attendance, including China, Japan and Cambodia.

The resolution aims to promote the sharing and analysis of crime information, joint operations and investigations and protection and support for victims.

Lee Jae-young, head of the KNPA's International Cooperation Bureau, sought support for the resolution during bilateral talks with Interpol's president and secretary general, as well as representatives from seven countries.

An official from Interpol credited South Korea for leading the international community's response to the issue and for proposing a detailed, feasible strategy.
