The e-commerce giant Coupang has confirmed that a massive data breach affected over 33 million user accounts.

The country’s leading online retailer said Saturday that personal information from 33-point-seven million customer accounts was exposed, far more than its initial estimate of 45-hundred accounts.

The leaked information included names, email addresses, postal addresses and phone numbers.

But Coupang said payment information, credit card numbers and login credentials were not exposed.

The affected accounts comprise most of Coupang’s customer base.

Coupang said the unauthorized access appears to have occurred through overseas servers starting June 24, adding that the access route has been blocked and internal monitoring has been strengthened.

The company said it is conducting a joint investigation with security experts and is cooperating with law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
