The government held an emergency meeting to discuss the massive Coupang data breach and vowed a thorough investigation.

Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyung‑hoon, presiding over the session at the government complex in Seoul on Sunday, apologized for the breach, acknowledging that many people use the platform.

The minister said Coupang had disclosed the breach to the government on November 19 and reported a personal data leak the following day, adding that on-site investigations are underway.

Bae said the attacker had exploited authentication vulnerabilities in Coupang’s servers to gain unauthorized access to more than 30 million customer accounts, stealing names, email addresses, phone numbers and addresses.
