Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon has been indicted in a case related to polling before the 2021 municipal election.

The special counsel team investigating former first lady Kim Keon-hee has filed charges against Oh, former Deputy Mayor Kang Cheol-won and Kim Han-jung, an alleged supporter of Oh's, pertaining to violations of the Political Funds Act.

Investigators suspect that Oh had power broker Myung Tae-kyun's firm conduct ten published and unpublished polls during his campaign for the April 7 by-election.

They also say that Kim sent 33 million won, or around 22-thousand U.S. dollars, to the firm on Oh's behalf to pay for the polls.

Kang faces charges of consulting with Myung on Oh's behalf.

Myung claims Oh asked him to conduct polls with results in his favor, but the mayor has denied making such a request or receiving any polling results from the political figure.

Kim and Kang have also denied allegations of wrongdoing.
