South Korea will launch a multipurpose satellite, the Arirang 7, early Tuesday, which will provide high-resolution imagery for environmental monitoring.

France commercial launch provider Arianespace said Monday that the satellite is prepared to launch, onboard the Italian Vega-C rocket, from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana at 2:21 a.m. on Tuesday, Korea Standard Time.

According to a press release, the one-thousand-810-kilogram Arirang 7 will enter sun-synchronous orbit at 576 kilometers about 44 minutes after taking off.

The satellite will provide high-quality images for disaster and environmental monitoring, as well as urban heat island analysis, using its high-resolution optical camera and infrared sensor.

The French company is scheduled to launch the Arirang 6 satellite during the first half of 2026.
