Main opposition People Power Party(PPP) floor leader Song Eon-seog said that all PPP lawmakers feel a heavy sense of responsibility for failing to prevent the declaration of martial law last year, an event that greatly shocked the public.
 
Song made the remarks on Wednesday during a press conference at the National Assembly on the anniversary of former President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law decree.

The floor leader said that on behalf of 107 PPP lawmakers, he intended to reflect on the past year and move forward. 

Song acknowledged that the public had suffered significant shock and distress after last year’s martial law declaration and that, on December 7 of last year, all PPP lawmakers had offered a sincere apology to the citizens for the anxiety the act caused.

He added that the party continues to uphold that stance.
