President Lee Jae Myung met with International Olympic Committee(IOC) President Kirsty Coventry in Seoul to discuss the importance of international sports.

During the meeting at the presidential office Wednesday, Lee asked for Coventry’s interest and support in developing both global and South Korean sports.

Coventry, elected IOC president in March, was in South Korea to attend the World Anti‑Doping Agency conference held Tuesday in Busan.

She said she had fond memories of South Korea, recalling her visit during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, which she described as highly successful despite the cold weather.

Lee expressed hope to see the Olympic flag raised again in South Korea someday, noting that sports can help improve inter‑Korean relations.

Coventry agreed, recalling the deep impression left by the unified inter‑Korean team’s entrance at PyeongChang.
