A state-run land development firm is likely to postpone a ceremony to dedicate its development office at the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea until next month.

The ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on Friday in the North Korean border city.

An official of the Korea Land Corporation said Tuesday that his company had requested the delay of the ceremony, adding that the firm has yet to receive a detailed schedule on the event from the Communist state.

The industrial complex, located only a few kilometers from the inter-Korean border, is envisioned to accommodate hundreds of South Korean labor-intensive companies.

The construction of the pilot site was completed in June. 15 South Korean firms plan to start operations at the site by the end of this year.
